Be open – Embrace – Have fun
— Anthony, Liz, Ellie, Jessie and Sena
Six months ago we were collecting swatches, musing over colour palates and debating the merits of gas or wood fire places. While this was all happening there was a small rumbling happening beneath our feet, kind of like the warm buzz you feel when a metro arrives at your station. Not a big rattling Sydney train but more like a warm swoosh from a more modern Eastern European or Chilean type of carriage. This rumbling though had quietly started over 50 years ago.

We come from a long line of seafarers. The males in the family were born or taken to the UK while they were younglings and in some cases graciously brought back passports which as a family we have all benefited from. The women however are the real pilgrims. Our mothers trekked the earth before they settled down. They had dubious romances with men on ships, jumped out of hotel windows in strange countries, traveled to Russia and East Berlin in trench coats and glasses and lived and made lives in Canada and the UK. They both loved and cherished this part of their lives and as a gift to us passed the same passion for vagrancy and wandering to us.
It is in their honour and remembrance that we dedicated this adventure to them. We love you both.
